Lonely Man

Lonely Man

Lonely man, let me be the window to your soul.

Open your mind and let me see what has made you so cold.

Lonely man, oh, lonely man, you will always be

A very, very, very lonely man if you follow me.

Lonely man, in action, is a bludgeon of our time,

Breaking down accepted norms and social pantomime.

Though, in the eyes of fellow men, he’s treated with disdain,

A brighter ray - enlightenment  - has bent and touched his brain.

He and I are only two and, yet, we are but one.

Our backs are turned towards the shade, our faces to the sun.

Lonely man, oh, lonely man, you will always be

A very, very, very lonely man if you follow me.

[verse 1]
You know we're in a lot of trouble, and we can't see the bottom yet,
Prosperity was just a bubble floating on a sea of debt.
The neocons were just emphatic: the gains on top were good for all;
Government was so ecstatic: you could get a mortgage at the mall, one and all!
One and all!
[verse 2]
Subscribe to voodoo economics and trickle-up is all you get,
The downs in life are simply chronic; the ups are just an outside bet.
The winners in the game keep winning when governance is laissez-faire;
Sinners left untamed keep sinning and no one gives a damn about it - they don't care
In laissez-faire.
Looking for a silver bullet - a way to make accounts work right -
I was lying in my bed when I heard a little voice inside me
Guide me to a rarer treasure;
Piece by piece, I found that fairer measure!
One computation could salvage a broken nation -
The basic equation came to me in a heartbeat:
We could make it work just fine by trusting in the powers of 9!
Tax time! Tax time!
We could make things fair for people everywhere!
Brother, you could share;
Sister, you might care.
Spread the good! (you know we could)
Dare to make things fair!
Dare to make things fair! Oh, we could make it there!
Fair, fair, fair - yeah, we could make it there!.............

"Never" lyrics

We've got to find a quick way out of here, or we can stay here and rot.
We, living shadows in the smoke and beer, resenting all we never got.
We've got to claim the age and make it ours; put down our fears and just begin.
We'll make no deals, we'll take no captives, we'll play the game to win! Yeah!

Somewhere back there someone is fooling you - you're skunked enough to think you're free.
Too duped to know this one is ruling you - you slave for what you cannot see.
The only one who knows what's good for you is you, within, it's yours to own.
Don't beg for handouts, don't play the victim, your soul is not on loan -
Your soul is not on loan.

The architect of your intellect calls you but the urge to disconnect stalls you,
Do you cringe and genuflect to some insect who expects you to defer?

You're caught up in the old, enticing view: the law will honor what you own.
A potentate who'll just be nice to you - forbid the thought, you stand alone.
Remember what you call the Infinite - if infinite, then who are you?
Don't let the dreaming forget the dreamer or what you came to do -
Or what you came to do.

The architect of your intellect calls you but the urge to disconnect stalls you,
Do you cringe and genuflect to some insect who expects you to defer?
Never! Never! Never!

"Deep Inside" Lyrics
I'm still working on my own thing, tryin' to get it right
(I don't think I'll get much sleep tonight).
'Been dreaming like a winner, living like a bum,
I can't do much more right now than let the pictures come -
Come to mind, flying blind, drifting with the tide,
Sifting through the chaos deep inside.
The gleanings of a life - a life I'd never live -
Things that I would hang onto, sins I would forgive -
Deep inside, deep inside -
Those dreams of sweet acceptance and hungers long denied.
I'm just living in a bottle, ignored and out of sight,
But I'm not going down without a fight!
I've been longing like a sinner, living like a saint,
Slowly going crazy being what I ain't -
Ain't it swell, I can't tell how many times I've tried
To make some sense of everything I hide:
The pleasure and the pain - a pain I'd never lose -
Angels I'd abandon, devils I would choose -
Deep inside, deep inside -
Those dreams of sweet acceptance and hungers long denied.
Dreams of sweet acceptance....
Dreams of sweet acceptance....
Dreams of sweet acceptance and hungers long denied.
Petty things exalted and genius denied.
"When You're in Love" Lyrics
When you're in love, every day's a day in Spring -
Strangers will greet you, the weather's great,
Whatever the weather may bring.
A song of love is an easy song to sing -
The melody flows when your mind's on fire,
Your heart's a balloon on a string.
You don't need much in your pocket,
And, when you see clouds up above,
Those billows aren't laced with a lining of silver,
They're golden when you're in love!

When you get up in the morning, you're feeling ready to go.
You change overnight without warning; your friends meet a you they don't know.

The eyes of love see a world in ways all new:
Where wishes turn troubles to fortune's smile
And grey days to sunny and blue.

When the hand of love reaches out and favors you,
Don't even think, take a long, deep breath
And hang on, whatever you do!
You won't need much in your pocket,
And, when you clouds up above,
Those billows won't shine with a lining of silver;
They'll be golden when you're in love!

"Down in Africa" Lyrics

[photograph on left: Victoria Falls; on right: Table Mountain above Cape Town, S. Africa]

(all the capitals of African countries):Gabarone, Capetown, Mbabane, Maputo, Maseru, Pretoria, Windhoek, Bujumbura, Kigali, Kinshasa, Lusaka, Harare, Luanda, Las Palmas, Porto Novo, Yaounde, Sao Tome, Brazzaville, Libreville, Bangui, Malabo, Abuja, Lome, Ouagadougou, Accra, Abidjan, Bissau, Freetown, Conakry, Monrovia, Dakar, Banjul, Ndjamena, Niamey, El Aaiun, Nouakchott, Rabat, Bamako, Tripoli, Tunis, Algiers, Al Kahira, Praia, Al Khartoum, Djibouti, Asmara, Addis Ababa, Nairobi, Dodoma, Mogadishu, Kampala, Lilongwe ... hey, hey, hey ... Moroni, Antananarivo ..............

The sun beats down on the baobab tree, down in Africa. The air is good and the heat is free, down in Africa. When it's warm the cicada sings and all around him the bushfeldt rings. The mamba bites and the scorpion stings, down in Africa.

People singin' from the day they're born, down in Africa. They drink their milk and they eat their corn, down in Africa. They got no car and they got no phone, but they don't miss what they don't own,They got this land and they call it home, down in Africa.

chorus: Down in Africa, land of milk and honey, I should know, Down in Africa, if you've got the money, well, you should go!

Religion, yes, well they got a few, down...From the black and Arab and the white man, too, down...They got their spirits and they got their gods, The bishop don't like it, but he give a nod -Still, he rule the people with an iron rod, down...

Politics - it is a curious thing, down...With the president and the tribal king, down ...They sit in the shade of the village tree and talk about it 'til they all agree - Then they sing and dance at the ceremony, down ...

Kilimanjaro is a marvelous sight, down...With a million stars under the whispering night, down...They got bright fishes and they got big game, and places for a holiday, if that's your aim -And alot of things to eat you can't say the name of down...

The sun beats down on the endless land, down...But the beach is lovely with the cool, white sand, down...When it's hot, you think you'll go insane! Then, you're running for cover from the tropical rain -And in half an hour it is sunny again, down....
